Road test is not a part of the MOT test, an MOT is primarily looking for the condition of the car.

Not road tested unless they need to go to the cafe/Mc Donalds/Sainsburys etc.
(Now opens himself up to Friday afternoon abuse)

there used to be a clause in the MOT for road testing of brakes if the vehicle was not suitable for testing on the rollers, some 4x4's for example. I had a really low car which wouldnt go on tested this way once.

Thats the only UK road test though to my knowledge.

Reason why I ask is, I thought are cars had limited slip Diffs. Now the brake rollers brake one wheel at a time and when looking though the MOT data for the S2000 is mentions "if the Vehicle is fitted with a LSD the brake rollers should not be used and a Road Test sgould to be conducted. (not word by word).

Also when he was spinning the rear wheels he said this hasn

yes vehicles with an LSD shouldnt go on the rollers apparently. Hence the road test aspect.

Generally when an LSD is fitted on the vehicle turning the wheel, the opposite wheel turns the same way, if not it turns the opposite way. I believe the LSD on the MX5 has limited lifespan and eventually loses this feature (working on friction somehow?) not sure about the S, but I thought all S2000's were LSD'd up?

Anyone?

The S2k doesn't have a traditional LSD, it has a torsen diff.
Essentially it does the same thing, but transfers the power to the wheel with the most grip.

Mines been on the brake rollers before and nothing broke, last MOT I had the road test as I've got low hanging carbon tat fitted.

The road test was driving to 15mph and jumping on the brakes and then the same for the handbrake, with some gadget on the passenger floor. All this was done within a 50m of the MOT station.
