Default Mud flap things

On the front and rear of the car infront of the wheels there are small mud flap like things. Any one know what they are and what they do?

Style additions which cost a stupid amount of money....several hundred quid if I remember correctly.

Thought about it but I can always just set fire tothe money in my own home

There are better mods.....cheaper.

Mods? They're original fitments.

No idea what they're for though.

Shipley your talking about side strakes and they just go infront of the rear wheel. Pic of one in my sig.

Think wang_uk is just talking about the black plastic bits, that hang down and there there to get the flow of water away from the wheels maybe?

they are put on just so someone would ask the question "On the front and rear of the car infront of the wheels there are small mud flap like things. Any one know what they are and what they do?" on a forum!

I've lost one of my front ones , Think I need to find one from a breakers.

are you talking about the tiny plastic things in front the the front wheels? they are there to stop water traveling the wrong way along the car. there was a photo around somewhere of an s2k on a wet trackday with the water streaming of te plastic bits. that showed you exactly why they were there!

so why not fitted to JDM's as standard, it rains in Japan also

I assumed it was an aero aid.. but only useful at higher speeds.. hence no need on JDM's..that normally do about 50mph top speed
