I'm not aware of mugen selling decat's etc unless them come with a mugen exhaust system, IIRC the mugen ECU tells you to run without a CAT (in japanesse).
For optimum results the Mugen ECU should be used with their N1 race exhaust; the instructions show example dimensions of the exhaust.

A lot of Mugen race parts are not advertised or available to the public.

IIRC Berk claims that the HFC flows something like 70-80% as well as a test pipe.

Whilst I'm no fluid dynamics expert, from observation the metal matrix in the Berk HFC looks like it will flow a lot better than the twin ceramic cores in the standard cat.

Chris.

Off the Berk site:

Our test data shows that this cat flows 87% as well as a test pipe vs. 43% for the OEM Cat. Smog legal, high flow, no test pipe smell. You can have the best of both worlds.

And Berks said that their manifold would yeild good gains, from most of the info i have read it appears the manifold is crap (including ninebolts).

Berks can say all they want.

Still IMO I cannot see the HFC being much better than the standard CAT performance wise. The decat etc seems to help the top end.

Jack i cant see you clearing 250bhp unless you have all bolt on's, and an ECU be that dastek etc.

Give Dastek a ring and ask if their ECU will work with DBW on an s2000, also ask if they manipulate/convert the MAP sensor reading for the AFR or do preprocessing not tricking the MAP sensor.

Something tells me they do now or so I've heard?

I'm intruigued, do it! give them a ring

Berk Manifold

Unichip seem to have changed their people over here, no longer based in Falkirk but have offices near Oxford. When I last spoke to them they thought that they had a plug and play harness. They never got back to me and then I saw the light.

I don't drive on the red line so I'm not interested in top end power increases.

I would like some more oomph in the mid range but getting a few ponies is a lot of money, more so if you have a late model DBW.

My opinion was that my car was running too lean when I had the mods all the way through from intake to exhaust. When compared to a fairly stock car of a similar age, I felt that the stock car was no less strong than mine and that mine was getting unpleasant to drive with increased manifold noise.

The day I switched back to OEM manifold and Cat was a revelation. I admit I have not had the AFR measured since but I would expect it's now better.

The sports Cat and a good Manifold might yet make a return but only when there is a good option for the ECU upgrade and I feel the need to blow 2-3K on getting there.
