Default Muz Mats Problem

After hearing good reports from here and not having found much in the way of an alternative I ordered a set of the prestige mats.

Passenger mat is great-perfect fit.

Unfortunately, the fixing eyelets on the drivers mat have been positioned about an inch too far forward so it is either riding up over the crossbar when fitted on the pegs or with the matt positioned correctly off the pegs the mat slides forward in use.

Is this the normal fit or am I being fussy?

I have now emailed Muz twice over the last two days and so far have got no response, I hope they will get in touch with me to sort it out.

I will keep you posted.

Also, the charcoal colour recommended to match the standard carpets has a slight brown hue which I find makes them neither one thing or the other. If I could choose again I would go for the black.

Muz is indeed a busy man. Ditch the eyelet and unbolt the seat mounts, then tuck the mat underneath the front ones and screw back down. Hey presto mat will not move at all and sit flatter over cross member. Over time they will get better still.

... I have the charcoal mats in mine and they're fine.

As for the eyelets, Muz mats come with two although some cars only have the one peg. The line up is spot on in my car ... have you checked how the post has been fitted in yours and can you move it?

As others have posted in other threads, your mat will shape itself over time on the driver's side. You can speed the process up by leaving heavy objects on it overnight to help it form over the cross member.

If you need to contact Muz, you may get a quicker response if you send him a PM

I don't use the eyelet thingy's as I have no hole in my carpet and no plans to put it in

I used double sided velcro to secure the drivers mats but as they've settled in I am not sure I'd even need that now.

Thanks for the comments.

For the price, I think Muz should get it right.

If I remove the pegs I could use a combination of the sugested solutions to make the best of a bad job. With hindsight, best to order them without the eyelet holes.

As it is I might weld an extension on the peg plates to make them longer. Seated an inch further forward they would fit OK.

Muz seems to have a world monopoly.

Shame that an enterprising company over here can't produce some for S2UK.

More useful than thongs!

I think most others would say he has, but I appreciate that's no consolation to you.

As others have mentioned, he's a member on here so you may have more success sending him a private message (his forum name is muz) rather than emailing.

Had a similar prblem and when I looked at other '05 cars at the dealer it's as much to do with the position of the pegs as it is with Muz mats. That is the position of the pegs is not same from one car to another. My mats fitted much better in a Nurby blue one at my dealer than mine. However as has been said you can ditch the pegs and either use the velcro or capture the end of the mat under the seat rails or both come to that. Also the mats do settle in after a few weeks. You could try a little bit of gentle heat to speed this process up.
some thing that helped a lot with mine was using a very sharp knife to remove a little bit of the excess carpet just forward of the cross member hump in the mat.
Turn the mat over and look at the seam from the reverse.
I am sure Muz would not recommend this as you could end up spliting the mat but it helped with the fit of mine. If you choose to try this it's up to you and I won't be liable for anything that goes wrong.
Colour of mine is fine if anything still slightly darker than the interior trim.
