Default Muz window protector

Hopefully will get a new plastic rear screen soon (see separate thread for details!).

Got to thinking maybe I should get something to try and minimise creasing etc. of the new screen once installed.

Only product I am aware of is the window roll protector from Muz........basically a rubber tube that you put into the external fold of the screen as the roof goes back to prevent folding/creasing.

Anyone got one and if so what's the verdict?. If it works well then may consider getting one. Bit of a faff having to get out of car to put tube in place before completely lowering roof but if it offers a real benefit then prepared to put up with the hassle!.

I have one of these.

It came with the car when I bought it, along with a Muz well mat for the rear window.

I seems to do a reasonable job. It doesn't entirely eliminate creasing from the rear screen, but is definately an improvement from having nothing there.

I did read somewhere that you could just throw an old towel across the rear screen if you wish to save money, but I have no idea if it works or not.

Sort of on topic - just got some of the BMW rear window cleaner stuff. Just done mine and very impressed with it, fairly cheap too at 7 quid a throw

Not sure.......might do. Think the Muz tube is covered in a soft velour type material to avoid marking the plastic. Not sure what the polystyrene tube would be like in this respect. Guess ultimately it might be possible to knock up a DIY version?

Have to agree with the BMW window cleaner (Part number is 81 22 9 407 665 ) it is the best product of its type. to BMW - never thought I'd do that

I have even recommended it to a colleague with an MGF

Bought a product from a company called Hindsight that was recommended on this site a while ago but never got around to using it. Not sure how this compares to the BMW product?.

BMW one is the way to go! Fantastic stuff! I also think it may help the flexibility of the plastic and stop it shattering Use it inside and out!

I made my own roof mat and tube both covered in suede. I have binned the tube - too much hassle every time the roof goes up or down! Especially if it starts raining! Storing is a pain as well!

I just try to keep it clean & warm! (and the roof! )

My mum, gor' bless her, made me up a couple remarkably quickly by covering some pipe lagging with cheap material. It handily replaced the Muz one which I lost by closing the roof and forgetting about it
