I would suggest a new one for the cost. (US)
I replaced mine and never had this again. The Gruppe M worked a treat after that too though.
I did some data logging of the MAP sensor reading when you got kangerooing and bogging, and the readings were very erratic. Difficult to say whether its the sensor or the hot air causing this. It gets unbelievably hot in that engine bay!
Its funny having the EVO now, the bonnet has the big vent in there and the heat haze is pretty severe. I bet some of the aftermaket bonnets with vents (for the S) are pretty good at expelling hot air. prob not worth it for heat dissipation alone though, as they are expensive and once on themove the temps will drop quickly, standard bonnet or not.
If you look at where the waste oil vapours enter behind the TB, I bet the internals of the map get pretty gummed up. I treid to hack my old one apart but its rather well built!
Didnt some people get great results with rad sheld mod?

I've given the map a whack and i'll wait to see how that works. If not i think i'll take it to Avonvale and i might be taking you up on your offer Paper Lawyer. Thanks.
Mugen888, yeah thats exactly it. So it isn't just me then.
Do you mean you suggest a new MAP Dark Blue and whats a Gruppe M?
I think i'll see what the mechanic says before i start buying new parts.

Anyone live in the Birmingham area and know a dealership with good mechanics?
Always been great with us!

The car needs to breathe , makes all the difference and the heat does effect the Vtec engines , the S2k in particualr as the ECU is all to ready to redtard when it gets a bit warm.
I can Guaratee that if you for a test take the rad plate out ( 10 mins) and try it it will run bettter on both throttle and butt dyno. If you dont see any improvement you can put it back in
no harm done
The stock holes that the airbox has are just not enough. Free mod , runs better never bogged or rood since. The stock airbox design is a good one and with a few changes can be a great one. The best is that 99% of the mods you can do youself then just buy a new filter.
Ive also a engine friendly TB mod that again does help ( costs
