My first real play
So, I'm pulling onto a dual carriageway from a roundabout and notice a 911 waiting at the junction to my right, pull onto the road and give it some VTEC in 2nd, through the gears up until the start of 4th, then slow down a bit and the 911 approaches, I do the honourable/respectful thing and pull over and put her into 6th, then think - sod it - I wanna see what the S can do, so drop it into 4th just on VTEC
and pull back out behind him and floor it. He's about 20ft in front when I pull out and he stayed 20ft in front up until just over 120 (kept looking into his mirror to see if I was still there) I must point out at that speed I backed off as the road turned a long corner on dodgy camber and there was a few bumps.
There was no doubt he was trying (you don't just amble up to 120)
Very impressed and proud of my S - No doubt it was a bog standard 911 but still, nice scalp

A bog std 911 would mash up the S no problem.

just to see the diff..

Once up and rolling the S2000 is very quick.
When will people realise that quoted power and torque is totally unrepresentative of a cars performance until gearing and weight are taken into account
As I've said before, I've had a few 'quick cars' and the S2000 is a match for any of them once up and rolling. It was the biggest suprise for me when I got my S2000 in fact. Yes, you need to put more effort into driving the S2000 at 10/10ths but that's part of the fun surely?
The differences between levels of performance at the level we are talking about would rarely be evident or achievable within the confines of a public road and I would fully expect an S2000 to be able to 'stay in touch' with a standard Porsche 911 (996) Carrera however well it is driven.

I had a Carrer 4S from a rolling start a few weeks ago (while my S was still driveable), iwas 2-up and we were both stuck in traffic at about 40.
I had the roof down and heard him drop the gears and boot it - I did likewise.
We were together up to high speeds - no idea whether his car was faulty or not and from standing start I would have lost badly, but from a moving start there wasn't much in it.

keep leaving in a dream world guys. A modern 911 will walk away from an S2000 in a straightline at 100mph.
