Donna had both her's ripped off her Civic last night.
The ba$tards actually did quite a neat job. No other damage than the snapped off connector.

Sorry for the bad news. What can you say.... too many chavs in older CTR's wanting 04 wing mirrors, so sad. Nothing you can do about it either, CCTV may work but even iif it catches the feckers you can guarantee that they will have probably moved them on and the police will give them 1 hours community service!

TBH, I don't know how much of as difference there is between "professional" cameras, and quality DIY ones.

DIY ones come in CMOS or CCD, the latter of which is the better quality and correspondingly dearer. Colour will be more, but I don't know if it's strictly necessary, unless required for clothing & other identification.

There's also the resolution to consider. The best CCD ones in my Maplins catalogue are 380 to 420 TV lines. They have an outdoor one by Swann, with infra red illuminators to give up to 10m night vision, for

Couple of stealth cameras INSIDE the car staring out through the passenger and driver doors - cabled (wireless?) to a recorder indoors. Motion detector too and an alarm which wakes you indoors but which is silent outside.

And a Cheshire Carper/Gadaffi hidden in the garage.
