to be totally honest all the cars ive seen with 17's dont cut the mustard, im really set on the look of 18s now.
Im after as nice looking car , i dnt track or drive it really agressive so it shouldnt make much difference to me.
so i take it im just going to follow the OEM 17'' offsets but go with a 18 instead,
Whilst I agree that it's each to his own and your car, your money, your choice, I feel obliged to sound a note of caution.

If you go to 18" wheels and make alterations to the geometry of your car purely for cosmetic reasons and without due consideration to handling, you are standing into danger.

We know, through bitter experience that this car tends to require attention to detail in the wet. We also know that the car is particularly sensitive to geo changes - a good geo can transform the handling of the car. Likewise, a poor geo setup will render it unpredictable to the point of being unsafe, in even experienced hands.

By suggesting that you wish to modify the car for looks alone, declaring that you have no interest in driving aggressively or in tracking the car, it is feasible to assume that you may not have done any car handling days or had much experience of powerful RWD cars (I could be wrong). This is not meant in any way a slight on your prowess.

I just have a horrible premonition that you may end up making the car so twitchy that you get caught out by a slippery off-camber corner and end up in a hedge backwards, ruining all of the hard work, time, and money that you will have invested, not to mention risking injury.

I do think that you're doing exactly the right thing by researching the likely outcomes of your plan. I hope it works out well for you!

17's will be much better on the S mate plus tyres are a whole lot cheaper. Just to add a shameless plug i'll be doing a Rota wheels group buy deal in May.
Just looking to source a set of these myself, will check your gb details. ta

I'm not hyjacking this thread...I've just ordered some wheels and I think I've stated the wrong offsets.

I've ordered the following :-

17*7.5 55 offset Tyres as per OEM 17" rims
17*8.5 45 offset Tyres as per OEM 17" rims

I've been through the Wheel Fitment guide and if I'm brutally honest there are so many figures banded about on there I haven't got a clue what will or won't fit!!

I'm trying to get hold of the manufacturer now, so if anybody could come back to me with an answer sharpish I would really appreciate it.

Cheers

As you have paid for 'Gold' membership .....

Fronts should be OK and you are about on the limit with the rears, but should be OK.

Rears are VERY close. I reckon you will need your arches rolling if you lower the car.

My rear wheel is an 8" and a +48 offset. With the R888 they just touch now and again under hard compression. Your wheel will stick out a further 9mm than mine.
