Need your help in picking a car
Kev,
I wouldn't worry about the mileage, 50k on a honda (S2000 or other) should be no problem provided it has been serviced correctly and looked after. My motor is just over 3 years old, has done almost 60k and is solid as a rock. In my experience the overall condition of a car tends to be a very good indicator of how the previous owners have treated it. I would personally prefer a car which had done 50k motorway miles than one that had done 20k in traffic.
Good luck....

Yeah I understand what you mean, but there are too many issues that I don't like. Doesn't help with my confidence..oh and I've searched around the internet about the garage I went to. Apparently they are dodgy......
for what its worth, these are the criteria I normally use when buying any car....
1 owner - much less likely to be clocked, more likely to be looked after and even if you buy from a garage you can talk to the owner. If they no longer own the car they are likely to tell you anything you want about the car. If the owner does not give you confidence, walk away.
Full dealer history - then any (Honda) dealer should be able to tell you about every nut and bolt that has been tightened in the life of the car
Interior / exterior condition - sometimes minor scratches and bumps are hard to avoid on any car, so I always expect a couple of these. However there is no good reason why a car should have anything other than an immaculate interior (especially on a non family car like this)
Mileage - should be in keeping with the overall condition of the car. I would say 60k or less should be no problem on most japanese or german manufactured cars. Can't say the same for anything french or italian unfortunately.
Keep an eye out for an imminent expensive service, people often trade their cars just before an expensive service is due so add that on to the price of the car.
Warranty - either dealer or independent, if anything expensive goes pop you should be covered.
Hope this helps...
