What has happened is that disconnecting the battery has triggered the immobiliser.

Have a read of this thread, where there are some suggestions: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/958...obiliser-issue

Hi PP,

From memory the flashing green key indicates an immobiliser issue whereby the key is nit recognised. So the immobiliser is preventing the injectors firing.

Its probably 1 of 2 things.

Either the battery replacment has confused the immobiliser from talking your key transponder (shouldnt normally happen) and they just need resynchronising. Honda can do this.

Or...

Your immobiliser is buggered. That would mean removing it / replacing with another one and re-coding.

Id double check you have tightened the terminals and that they are the right way. On some cars Halfords do sell reverse terminals!

Also try a spare key if you have one.

Id also try disconnecting the battery for 10 mins and reconnecting and see if it resets.

I have had the RAC out, he can't do anything. Said the keys are not responding (including spare/valet key) will need a re-set from Honda. He reckons £60!

Figure I have nothing to lose by disconecting for a while and trying again, if that fails will attempt to re-set immobiliser with the codes supplied on here, as nothing to lose???? Will read the programming a key link in more detail first.

Thanks for all of your help guys, much appreciated!

I tried programming the key, didn't work. Tried disconnecting & leaving - no change.

Wondering whether to call an independent auto electrician or Honda. Will probably get a quote from Honda first.

Bloody cars!

My other car has been playing up in sympathy, yesterday I had two cars on the drive that wouldn't work!

Honda's advice: They will take out the ECU unit and replace it with a new one and a new key: £300, this will take a few days with recovery ay my cost. /Or have it recovered to them, they will send it to some semi-retired bloke, somewhere who can reprogramme it, could take a few weeks: £200.

I wasn't too happy with this so contacted a mechanic friend:

He advised, put the key in the the ignition (turned on). Disconnect the battery, then reconnect the battery, start the car (it will then stop thinking it can't recgognise the key)....it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!! No problems since.

Thanks Honda...not.
