Default Is The New Board / Format Working?

Just got back from the Surrey meet.

Seeing as all the others we have had at least 7 cars and the average is 7 - 12 cars and between 10 and 20 people this seemed a little small tonight.

Initially it was Dracoro and myself and then myself and Mrv and Vixen on return from their hols. Drac - thanks a load for a spin (literally at times) in the mighty Westie it was awesome I am truly converted into how they really are. And that exhaust is cool as fcuk.

Anyway with suh a meagre turn out and having had the usual few bods saying on the temporary boards that they were coming along but not many replies on the new one I was wondering if the seperate Meets and Events board is actually working?

Any thoughts? Mods can u get any useful before and after comparison stats?
It seems like people don't know where the meet stuff is these days. Just a thought.

I'm not so sure given the fact that Ade needed to post the thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=220443 to get some driving company for the MM1 route test and I see that there is questionable conclusions on the meet thread https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=220598

So do u think people are looking at a seperate Meets board?

I must admit, I was expecting a bigger response for the next Midlands meet. They usually prove to be very popular, but so far there are only a few people signed up. So much for worrying that the pub would not be able to cope!

Having said that, I think the new section is a good idea. Its easy to check through the up and coming meets without keep looking on the List of Meets & Events thread. Or am I just lazy?

How come we can't see where people live, or if they're online Also, during the first few days of the new site you could see who was reading each thread at the bottom of the page; now thats gone too

I think a Meets section is a good idea overall, saves looking through pages of on-topic posts to find a Meet....

*However*, given that people on S2Ki are used to doing that, perhaps they just don't think to click into the Meets section.

Also, when the threads are in general on-topic, they would catch your eye and you would think... ahhh well I'm about tonight perhaps I'll pop down - as opposed to now having to think - I want to go to a Meet, I wonder if there's a local one.

Perhaps there should be a shortcut in the on-topic section that links to the thread in the Meets section? That way they are centrally managed, but still available to casual browsers?

I think it's a bit premature to be drawing too many conclusions so early after the introduction of the separate meets board, to be honest.

That said, I was sceptical as to the need for one, personally - partly because I'm not sure there is enough traffic to make it worthwhile but mainly because, from experience, I know a lot of people only tend to read the main board and so there is a very real risk of threads in there not being seen.

I'm prepared to be convinced that it serves a useful purpose, but at the moment I've not changed my initial view. It's all on a trial basis though, as Ian has said, so we'll review in a week or two and see what the concensus is.

I think it would be a neat idea to have site badges for meets in signatures. I mean, smaller than my mammoth one below! Maybe the size of the usual S2K UK & muppet badges. Then, once you are either planning or attending a meet, you can add that badge to your signature. Mods could have them all, or rotate them as AE does.

I think we all read signatures quite a bit and if they change with the times, so to speak, this might draw attention to the meets themselves AND the seperate meets forum.

Just my 2 cents. Actually, it's only 1 cent, cos I lost one in the dryer this morning.

Perhaps it's just cos it's holiday season and everybody's away?
