IIRC, Performance Car was a Car spin-off in the early 'eightes that failed badly.

A bit like Company Car in the mid-eighties.

I spoke to the publishers (used to be EMAP) and they told me that their intention was to change it from being a pubic w4nk mag and make it a little more 'grown up'.

I think all the T+A was a little prohibitive to some advertisers / partners too.

 

IIRC performance car became Evo.?

 

Performance Car died and became Car. Evo was a new startup around 1999/2000.

 

Performance Car was consummed by Car in 1998. Car was around along time before Performance Car.

Some of the Performance Car writers went to the then new Evo which started up in 1998.
