Default new engine in - engine light on

ok so had the car back a few days after my engine installed and after starting on a cold moring engine was none to happy and the revs were hunting between 1500 and 1700 and reckon it misfired as well

calmed down but engine light on. also had another idle problem just now when warm but solved when i restarted

so back it goes to the garage after being off the road for 10 weeks

so question, view time of year and the schelp to get back to the garage and other commitments i cant take it back for at least 2-3 weeks.

so do i drive in the meantime.?? suspect the engine light is on because of the misfires otherwise all seems fine but there is going to be an occasion next week when i must have a car so if its not this then need to find another!

Check all of your plugs and make sure that the HT leads are all plugged in correctly.

You can reset the egine management light be removing ant replacing this fuse:

Has the engine sat for a while with fuel in it ?

Maybe the injectors need a few teaspoonfulls of cleaner

No no no no!

You need the code before you ever reset the ECU. The whole point on the engine light and whole in built ECU diagnosis is that it can help you find what the problem is.

It's like my mate who had a ECL keep coming on, he resolved the issue by taking the bulb out.

well, assuming i removed the right fuse (the fuse box under the drivers side dash board) the engine light was out after starting for all of 5 seconds before it came on again

bloody cars! its the hassle of getting it to and from the garage that effs me off, not so much that it needs to go back!

oh well having spent 10 weeks off the road its gonna sit outside my house for another 2 weeks.

knowing my luck it will be something wrong with engine thats just gone in and am gonna have spend

No it will be something simple like an O2 sensor / tps / or map left unplugged or broken I reckon.

Does it do it from cold straigh away, or does it start after about 10-20 seconds? What year of engine did you have fitted?

Ps - cheap to maintain if dealt with properly
