Default The new motor...

Well after just over 2 cracking years of ownership and 66k miles later I have finally parted company with my beloved S.

It was a sad day, but alas it had to happen at some point.

I hunted around to see what I could find to fit my requirements for a replacement and I found the answer in the most unexpected of places! After searching for weeks as the deal on the 200SX fell through, I hunted through the autotrader to see what I could buy and worked out insurance costs, etc and my final choice was most surprisingly an Astra Turbo Coupe!

So on Friday I went an picked up my new motor and here it is:

It's only a second slower 0-62 than the S and the top end is about the same (152mph). As it cost me a 1/4 of the price to insure I was prepared to sacrifice 1 sec!

I shall run it stock for a while, but I feel the chav inside of me itching to escape like a freaky nik-nak.

I like these, v nice. The interior and build on these is of good solid standing.

Why did you sell the S?

Well the S was becoming too expensive to run on a daily basis and I was getting fed up of driving the beater.

I got the insurance renewal through and it had gone up again and it was going to cost me money eventually as it was still on original brakes and clutch and needed new tyres to pass the MOT. I thought it was time to cut my losses and as great a car as the S was, I had to find a cheaper alternative for the foreseeable future.

The plan is to keep the Astra for 3 years and then hopefully on my 30th birthday I shall be in a position to buy my R34-GTR. That's the plan anyway!

I used to have the Bertone 2.2 coupe, comfy enough, wobbled around corners, but did it's job

First thing to sort Mike is the Frontera like suspension

Is that before or after the rear wheel drive conversion?

I could have bought a CTR, but it was more expensive and would have cost me more to run so didn't bother. This is a stop gap to bigger and better things.
