Default New Owner!

Hi all, I've finally purchased an S2000 after looking for around a year.

It is an '06 DBW in Moonrock grey, not a mark on the bodywork although the driver's seat bolster could do with repairing/replacing.
I drove it back down from Newcastle over the moors last weekend and what a great car to drive! Loved the handling and it definitely requires discipline with the right foot. Here are a couple of pics I took on the drive:

Thanks to the info on this site, I have already greased the seals and cleaned the roof with Autoglym. Next on my list is a full fluids/filters service (DIY).

Questions I have:

Would you recommend a Half cover or full cover? It will be kept outside all year round.
Which Gearbox oil and diff oil do you recommend for normal road use?

Oh and I also race in the 750mc Classic Stock Hatch championship in an XR2 and own a Fabia VRS as my daily.
Have a watch of my onboards if you're interested. This race was particularly busy with 2 classes combined -

Cheers!

The s2000 looks nice, what are your plans with it?

That stock hatch racing looks like fun, there was a bloke on rtoc.org that used to race stock hatch, not sure if it was same class as you?think he was called Dave Clarke, yellow r5 gt turbo.from what I remember it was fairly rapid.

Welcome to the club :-)

I don't think you are allowed to join the club until you have the roof down....

I had it down for a few miles - loud with the K&N FIPK on it!

Thanks for the welcome. There's so much info on this site for one model!
Hmmm that may have been in a stock hatch series with another club. The regs in the 750mc SH are tightly controlled - 1.6 N/A 8v's only for example.
I'm sure there will be some more members on this site racing in 750mc. It's good fun!

This is the only car I've owned that I wouldn't mind keeping stock(ish). Near term plans are to rennovate the seats and modify the driver's seating position. I think it could be better. Then in future, exhaust and an oem-looking front splitter, maybe subtle lowering...we will see!

Welcome. I have tried mtf3 and motul gear300 in gearbox. Found both excellent but the motul is shear resistant and synthetic. In the diff I used the recommended Honda GL5 90 from cox motor parts online. Members get 5% discount too on Honda parts.

Thanks guys, yes I've seen your link before. Some good information on there. Some of it is quite old so I just wanted some recent recommendations for diff and g/box oils. I've used motul in my race car and it performed well. However I might get the lot from Cox. The prices seem reasonable for genuine parts.

H10NDR, where can I find the 5% discount code? I've searched but no joy.

Cheers

+1 for Cox.

http://www.s2kuk.com/s2kuk-forum.php. Discounts are as a club member (S2KUK) which is linked but differs to S2Ki. IMO joining both S2KI and S2KUK still pays for itself in info and discounts.

"Register on the Cox website, email your membership number, name and address - upgrade will be applied to your account and additional discount will always apply"
