Default New owner checking in.

Hello there fellow S2000 folk. I've been an S2000 owner for 2 weeks now (a Moonrock MY05) and I absolutely love it.

I've had a long list of hot hatches previously, but as soon as I drove an S2000 I realised that, no matter what you do to a family car, it will never be as good as a sports car that was designed to be just that from the start.

The engineering was the clincher for me though - RWD, the feel of the gear change and especially V-Tec. Is there an engine in the world that compares to the S2000's? Probably, but nothing I could hope to afford right now. The power delivery makes me laugh out loud every time I take it through the revs, plus the noise is amazing (especially when I drove through a tunnel at full revs with the roof down).

I guess the grip and handling doesn't quite have that last degree of finesse, but it's so much fun - so many sporty cars these days are very capable, but so much so that they've become boring, but the Honda has to be driven properly and that's the way I like it. I'd forgotten how much fun RWD is.

I guess I didn't need to tell this to any of you as you already know, but I had to get it out of my system.

Anyway, I've read all the warnings about lairy, tail happy handling, but don't worry about me. A nice policeman stopped me this evening and told me I'd won some points for the quality of my driving. I'm glad he appreciated my efforts!

Looking forward to chatting and maybe meeting you soon.
All the best,
FB.

If you'd done it properly then he wouldn't have caught up with you.

This needs to be moved to the owners section!

Welcome.

Hi Fatbloke, a good geometry is a good move if you're finding the handling not as good as you would like. You'd be surprised at how good it should be . The way to avoid getting caught speeding is to only go fast round corners

Don't get me wrong, the ride and handling are execellent. I just meant that it's a bit more 'dramatic' than some cars, but that's exactly why I bought it.

Welcome Fatbloke, good to see you made the trip over from Renaultsport.

Now get it on track and see what it can really do when you can keep it on the boil legally and without the worry of a run in with PC Plod.

The first time I drove an S2000 was round a track with a nutcase racing driver telling me to ignore the safety briefing and pull my finger out, so I've seen what they're like 'on the boil'.

That's pretty much what got me hooked..........

Cool, away. You clearly know what S2000 ownership is all about!
