New radiator, worth upgrading

Hey guys,

I'm looking to change the radiator and coolant hoses on the car as I have a leak somewhere and the lower radiator cooling fins are coming detached in my current radiator.

Question is, I'm looking to do track days in the car and when I'm in a position to buy a daily I will be making the car more track focused. Is it worth me putting an upgraded radiator in, the mishimoto alloy one or tegiwa one or the 3 layer mishimoto one? I'm guessing there would be no detrimental effects on a road car from having an updated radiator?

Cheers

Paul

Are you looking at the A/C radiator for the bits falling off? That happens to most of them.

I've managed track days in 30+C with the OEM radiator and the coolant temps stay rock solid. There's really no need for an "upgrade"other than perhaps to save a few quid.

But the biggest saving will be in not replacing it at all if you can.

I bet its the AC rad , I just pulled the couple of loose bottom bits off to stop it looking untidy, still works ok

Yeah the fins are effectively heatsinks, so removing them doesn't cause any harm if they have already given way.

Ah, didn't even think about that, the aircon radiator is in front of the engine radiator isn't it.

That's a result then, I will just replace the hoses then as I think that is where the leak is.

There is a video on YouTube by BMI and they do an 'endurance' race with a few stock cars, if I remember correctly the s2000 actually fared the best out of all the stock cars in regards to coolant temperature and cooling system, when oil temp started to come up he changed from shifting @9k to 8k but that was after a lot of laps in proper heat, 30+ at Tsukuba. I think your stock rad will be fine mate.
