New Tyres - advice needed
so back to topic are proxies the only 'other' tyre people recommend.. has anyone tried any yokohamas? they used to be top class although similar to the so2's in that they were only good in the dry (so not really what he's after here)..
off topic again my fronts are 4 years old and look fvcked but still have tread although less on the outer edges..

IIRC Proxies were the only other "premium" tyre with the right sizes (at the rear presumably).
I think Burnie used to run some less well known make on his old car.... but then grip wasn't a critical issue for him
Ivanardon I think is running another make which he rated - could have been Continentals

Burnie used to run Eagle F1s but in the slimmer 225 size to give the back end just a bit more slip

There is defnitely less grip from the rear than with the S02s, but it feels a bit more progressive when they do let go (probably because they run out of grip at lower speeds).
And you get the added benefit that wet weather grip is much better than the S02s, especially if you hit standing water!
i had SO3s on mine when i bought it a month ago. does anyone have any thoughts on whether i should switch back to SO2s when these are worn out?
i know they're better in the dry but i will drive it all year round and feel reasonably confident with the SO3s in the wet. has anyone driven with both types who can tell me how big the differences are in the wet and the dry?

TBH if you are wanting advice I would say to stick with the SO2's / REO ?? if on 17's.
Unless you know another tyre well enough to give it a go then stay stock.
I am sort of tempted to go for ZZ3's, but if I don't like them I will swop back to another set of wheels and then destroy the Avon's on a track day somewhere.
