Hi all,

Greetings from Scoobynet(my current home!)

Im just about to order a Honda S2000, arriving in 5 weeks time Cant wait.

Decided it wasnt worth waiting/I couldnt wait for the 04 model.

Anyway some questions I have

What is the service schedule on the car and whats the likely costs?

Whats the stereo like? Can I remove it and put an off the shelf unit in?

If my car is a Euro import will it have an alarm?

thanks all,

Andy

9k, about 110-140 ish

Whats the stereo like? Can I remove it and put an off the shelf unit in?

NOT VERY GOOD. Get an Alpine or other. Its standard HU size, when the time comes we`ll help with directions. Its very simple.

If my car is a Euro import will it have an alarm?

Probably not

thanks all,

No problem!

Thatcham (the body which officially "certifies" immobilisers and alarms) grades as either Category 1 or Category 2, with 1 being more secure.

Budget

Never believe anything a lawyer tells you .... when things get technical.

A CAT1 is the category for a combined alarm/immobiliser. CAT2 is the category for an immobiliser only.

As it is the immobiliser that secures the car a CAT2 is the same as a CAT1 to insurance companies.

IMHO a factory installed CAT2 is always going to be better than a a 3rd party installed CAT1 or CAT2. This is why I cannot understand why Honda UK get a POS alarm installed onto the cars before they sell them.

You live and learn, Steven - that's how it was explained to me when I was looking at importing an EU car! I stand corrected

Mark, was this a Honda dealer or the importer that told you this?

Both, actually. I never put too much stock in what I'm told by Honda salesmen (or, to be fair, any other car manufacturer's sales personnel), but I was told essentially the same thing by one of the importers I spoke to.
