Default No Insurance

Hi Guys,

I have just recently bought an S2000.

However, I have called a few insurers and I just can't seem to get insured on one because I am under 25.

I am 24 and due to be 25 in May and have 5 years NCB on my father's policy.

I had a look on the insurance comparision spreadsheet and to my amazement several drivers under the age of 25 have got insured on a S2000! How can this be!?

Can anyone help?

Cheers,

I had the same problem, went to money supermarket.com, got some quotes there.

Bell Direct was the most reasonable, and I cut off a fair bit from the price by adding my folks as named drives.

So get a quote from them, then look at recent insurance thread by tim1 on this forum, and he should beat the above quote by 10%.

I got a very competitive quote through A-Plan, they take driving experience into account.
However they wouldn't insure the GF as she only passed her test a month before policy inception.
I'm now with Elephant (I was 27 when I insured it)

i think some/most of your problem is lack of your own NCB. it's all under your dad's name with you as a named driver.

tried flux?

I think you'll get insurance but be prepared for a large number

You probably don't have 5 years NCB from your Father's policy, unless he was with directline and you are insuring with them.

Or the same thing with a different company.

The NCB if for the policy holder only unless you re-insure with the same company AFAIK, and only with certain companies, not all.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it clearly would have been better to get a couple of quotes on the car before buying it

You could also try adding your Father as a named driver to the policy, this may help in getting you a quote.

Try it at confused.com

Good luck
