Default Noise when idle

Hi all, just yesterday I noticed a noise I am sure I have not heard before when the car is sitting idling, it is quite faint but if you sit and listen it is also quite obvious. I have tried to capture it in the video below but as it is faint it is hard to hear. I think in the video you hear the noise I mean best when the camera is in and around the head unit.

To describe the noise it is a sort of "wmm wmm wmm wmm wmm wmm" etc...

I just noticed that when I push the clutch in when sitting idle that the noise goes away completely. Any ideas?

There are no other symptoms I know of, the car still drives fine and you cannot hear the noise any other time other than idle...any help would be really appreciate, really hope this is not something bad

Video Here

thanks

Sounds like clutch release bearing to me. If it is I don't think it will cause any problems, just makes a slight noise.

Thanks guys, anyone else had this before or recognise the sound or symptoms? Wanna make sure I am not doing the car any harm if I drive it.

That's more gearbox input shaft noise to me and could well be harmonics amplified by the transmission tunnel ......

Hmmm would it make sense for it to go away when the clutch is pressed then? If it was the box input shaft I mean?

I'm NO expert on this but if you push the clutch in - i think you remove input to the shaft. Have you checked what condition the weatherseal is under the gearstick and have you greased the ball and socket in the base of the gearstick?

Have you listened in that area - right at the base of the gearstick

You not got anyone local to you who would have a listen - the S2000 is a very audible car in so many areas, noiseless souless eurobox it is not - thank god.

Yeah I remember my integra being the same with regards to noise, I'm just quite sure this noise wasn't there before...this underseal you talk of, should it be sealed with some sort of grease inside it? I can get the car on stands tomorrow and have a look at least
