Post Nos

I have always fancied adding Nos to an engine and I am considering the NX kit for the s2000, I want to have the Nos added from 3000 rpm to 6500 rpm to give some extra power to VTec.

I have increased the fuel in by upgrading fuel Rail, Pressure valve and fuel pump and was looking at the 50 Bhp Nos kit.

Do I need to increase injectors and Thottle body ???

Any thoughts or Advice would be welcome ???

Would recommend you post this on the main board Deadly.
You're much more likely to get a septic that's done this than a brit.

This gets covered on the Westy forum fairly often. General consensus from people that have done it is that it's not as expensive to run Nitrous as people think. I have a very good book on it somewhere and it seems very simple to do, so long as you can get enough fuel in to keep combustion chamber temps down.

Usual problems are more related to insurance for road cars than anything else - there aren't that many companies that will cover a nitrous road car, and those that do tend to load the premiums up very highly.

There is also the problem of running out of gas, and therefore power, which doesn't happen with any of the more conventional types of tuning.

Apparently you'll get approx 10bhp per lb per min, so @ 50bhp you'll get 12 secs per lb. NOS cost approx

PS. The best way to get the costs down is not to get your piddly little bottle in the boot refilled directly, but to get a large cylinder in your garage and decant from that. That way the gas is much cheaper to buy, and you can refill when the shops are shut! There is more initial outlay in getting the connectors etc to achieve this, but it's generally considered to be worth it.

Steve, I dunno if your calcs are right or not, but the westy guys normally set theirs up with an activation switch under the throttle pedal somewhere, so you control the boost whenever you want, and at WOT. They generally reckon to get a trackday from a (small) bottle - trackdays in a westy, IME, are predominantly WOT...
That said, I've never been around when a nitrous car has run so I dunno if they drive them hard, or just ponce about!

EDIT: First google hit for uk found nitrous refills to be

That certainly would make things cheaper, still using it 3000 - 6500 rpm will still be costly.

I dont have NOS so I cant say for sure, guess you'd need to ask someone that does!

I don't run it either - just reporting on what I'v eheard from reading through the discussions on westy forums, and filcking through the book I bought about it.

I was thinking or running it on my old westy, but in the end decided that getting the same measured dose to both it's engines was gonna prove to be a bit of a challenge too far!

Cost of running it ????? This is an area I had not put to much thought into, and you are right its going to cost quiet a bit from 3000 to 6500. It will have to be on a button.

Thanks Dave
