Default Note to other convertible drivers

You CAN put your roof down

Beautiful weekend over here in the East but I saw countless MGF drivers with their roofs up, along with a number of MX5 drivers, Merc drivers and MR2 drivers.

Why do theses people buy convertibles. I did at a few of them singalling for them to get the top down, but most looked at me as if I was sime kind of nut case.

Yeah saw a woman in a yellow convertable TT with the top up. It can't have been the fact that she didn't want to ruffle her hair as it looked pretty well all over the place anyway, maybe it was broken

I was going to wave and point as she pulled alongside at the junction, but the road cleared and VTEC was engaged

Saw an MGF with its hardtop on

Tell me about it

Yesterday loads of converts with their roofs up.
Got some funny looks on the M25 when stuck in traffic, two S's doing a syncronised roof up dance when it started to spit.

Then at the Opti stop in watford me at one end a LB at the other end both roof,s down and then 3 MGF's turn up with roof up WHY

A friend of mine who frequents my local has just bought an MGF. The conversation went something like this:

"So what's it like with the top down?" I asked

"Haven't tried it yet" was his response

"What, even on a nice spring evening, top down, hat on, heater up"

A blank response was all I got.

What is the point.

I recently drove a *cough* MG TF160 for a week before picking up my S. Top down driving isn't as much fun in this thing, believe me!

The heater is the worst I have ever used, and I was freezing, and the wind noise and buffeting in the car were awful. I spent 75% of the week with the top up, and it was sunny (13C avg). Evil cars

have read all your comments and agree totally, why buy a convertible if you have no intention of converting it Every single mile I drove over the weekend(about 350) were topless and during that time out of some 50 or so fellow potential toplessers only 4 had the roof down

Completely maddening!! Still they all looked pretty fed up cooped up inside their tents whilst I was and enjoying lots of in the sunshine

PL x

PS. whilst my car was at Honda I drove an MX5 and even though the weather was nice it felt sooooo dull that I daren't pop the roof down in case I was spotted maybe that's why!! These cars turn the drivers into boring uncool peeps!!

This maddens me as well. Interestingly, most of the (rare) times when I see an S2000 on the roads here, the driver has the top down. This is not the case with other convertibles.

It seems that people who buy S2K's are generally much more keen to drive around with the top down.

When I test drove the S, I asked the dealer to drop the hood for me. After some comical fiddling around (by the dealer, not me) - I was off for some topless action. I said to the dealer - "Why I get one of these, the hood will be down 99% of the time." She gave me a strange look, and muttered something.

It seems some people just don't get the point of a soft top!
