Default Number plate question

I've been thinking about getting a private plate for the S for a while now. I have a couple of ideas, however enquiring on www.dvlaregistrations.co.uk they say the plates are already on cars.

I have looked at a number of other reg plate sellers but none of them have the particular plates I am looking for.

Is there any way of finding out who owns these plates so I could contact them directly to see if they are willing to sell?

Think you will find that is only available to the Authorities. There is an RAC site where you can look up number plates to see what vehicle a number is on, and the date of last registered keeper change, but not who the keeper is. Site has been mentioned on this forum recently.

I have already checked on the RAC site. One plate is definitely on a car. However for the other one it won't actually tell me what car it is on. Not that any of that info helps.

I didn't think there was a way of finding out unless I worked for one of the authorities.

I doubt it AB. I only have tiny bit of grey hair

And I haven't been in on Chelsea Bridge since the Pistonheads meet.

Be interesting to know who's Monza Red you saw. I have yet to see another.

Probably wasn't you then - but it looked like an 04 with it's roof down and definitely Monza red.

Just a normal old sytle number plate ie letter, 1-3 numbers and then 3 letters, which may not mean much to others but could do for me. They were in normal circulation in the years they came out.

I'll just have to wait I suppose.

i've just bought one for my dad's 60th and noticed you could leave the details of the regs you are after with the various reg plate sellers and they will email you if they become available. not ideal i know but worth a try. www.pl84u.co.uk seemed pretty good.
