Default Number plates

Now I know some of you have your own private reg's in the 'S2000' form. I've just purchased mine of S200 D** Obvioulsy want to re-arrange it so it looks like S200D **

Reading through the doc's and it says it's an offence to mis-place, mis-space characters so it looks like it forms a word or phrase. Max

A few people have been done, but the majority seem to have had no problems. I have an S200D plate and ran it in a mis-spaced format for 18 months without any problems.

I have S200 O and TBH even though it's unlikely, I'd rather not give Plod an excuse to pull me over. It's bound to happen when you're in a rush to get somewhere

I have a misspaced plate (not changed the font though), and not been stopped yet.

However, they are having a crackdown in the Aylesbury area with Special Constables apparantly!

I've got a S200 O** plate mis-spaced. I have had no interest from plod what so-ever, even after being followed by them on a couple of occasions. In fact the other week I thought my number was up as I went past a cop car doingg 40 in a 30. He pulled out and followed me virtually all the way to work. I presumed I would get pulled for the plate, but eventually we went our seperate ways.

It's down to the individual copper, I suspect. The more anal pedantic (or just plain bored) ones might pull you, but the majority can't be arsed with the paperwork (unless it involves a deliberate attempt to make the plate look like it says something different).

I raised it with the traffic copper who came out to my prang and his take was that it was quite clear what it read and so he wasn't bothered about the mis-spacing issue. The only problem he thought it could potentially create is with the automatic registration recognition system, which might not be able to read it and so flag the car for attention.

.....and thats the annoyance for me.

Depends on Mr Plod....if he's had a row with his missus..we pay

Having said that...I have an S2K ** number which is not only mis spaced but also I have a 3/4 size plate glued to the nose

I've only been spoken to once by plod and that was in a garage...he complimented the car and I felt brave enough to ask him about the plate....he said it made it more memorable which tended to be their only criteria.

He did however say that pople deliberately mis-representing numbers with black screw covers - stupid fonts or 'O' to zero they do pull and advise alterations.
