Default O2 Lambda sensor cream crackered

This morning I managed to rip my lambda off and a section of the test pipe with it!

I thought the car sounded like it was blowing slightly, then bang, bang , bang. Stopped and had a look underneath to see the sensor hanging down with the decat's ringpiece in tow.

Strapped the sensor up and limped back home to change back to the cat but I've now got a CEL. I assume the impact has broken the sensor, which I'm sure cost a 'kin fortune from the dealers.

Will this do the job - I presume it's a cut and splice job if so?

ebay item no: 27016419140 (having issues with linking for some reason)

I have always worried about this, given my car is lower and the lambda sticks out so much.

I would either get a new one from HT guy, or one from cats direct (4 wire) which will involve cutting the plug off the old one (lambda wires dont solder)

Does it look buggered?

Maybe it was from the air leak, as that would upset it.

If the CEL came on, it could just be that it was reading duff values.

Put on the cat, put the sensor in and re-set your ECU.

First thing i did was pull the backup fuse, started up again and came on in a few seconds. The T1R/J's pipe is a truly shocking design, especially with a drop - I'm amazed it's lasted this long.

surely HTG isn't going to be cheap either?

Was that with the cat on?

Shame .. I've a spare in the garage, but it's got the primary plug on it (which is different from the cat/secondary one).

Yes, it was after I had reinstalled the cat (which rattles occasionally in any case)

YOu could just remove and blank it, and go for the electronic fix.

Its not being used properly anyway, when it has antifolwers in so I wouldnt worry about removing it.

Now the cat is back on I clearly have no need for the antifoulers (which will take some extraction from the mangled metal they are attached to!)

If I'm running the cat I'll want the sensor doing it's job.

I couldn't find the electro gubbins when I was looking months ago - the main manufacturer (forgotten name) seems to have disappeared.

What about MOT - surely I'll need it then?

This is my understanding. I could be miles out.

The 2nd o2 sensor just checks that the cat is working (by measuring a lower AFR than the first).

It doesn't have any control over fueling.

That's why adding a de-cat will flag an ECL (as they are reading the same). Moving the 02 out of the airflow with an antifoulers means it is reading a lower AFR so it *thinks* the cat is still there.

Plug the hole and get a few resistors.

The sensors also have heaters in them (to get them upto temp quicker) and I know this can error if you just upclip the sensor.

For the sake of the 15 odd squiddlies on ebay I may as well give one a go. I know it's a four wire, but is it a titania or zirconia variety I need?
