Default Observation...

Something struck me whilst reading Fletches thread, One guy comes along and announces hes just done 110mph on a public road, gets flamed.

Another chap comes along and announces hes just crashed his car because he was trying a powerslide on a public road, gets excuses posted as to why it happened.

This IS NOT a dig at Chris or anyone, just an observation as to how differently they are treated.

Discuss.....

We know Fletch and know he would only have done it in safe conditions

it looked like a very quiet wide bit of road fletch was on, claimed he wasn't going fast (probably 1st or 2nd gear) and admitted he was silly for provoking it and pushing too far. Opposed to looking for glory or credit for doing something silly like 110 in a 40 linit racing somone else.

Thats not the point. both acts were DEFO reckless. Did the other chap not say that the conditions were the same?

Steve, the point you've missed is that Fletch is putting his hands up and accepting he was wrong/made a mistake.

Midget showed no understanding that what he had done was dangerous and demonstrated his callous attitude and disregard for other people's lives on the road, and lack of respect for the users of this forum.

Steve you raise a good point.

BUT

Their motives, actions and reactions are both very different

Their intentions were different
Their mental age is different
The chances of killing people at 110 is a lot different to spinning your car out of a corner.
We all make mistakes whether in a chosen action or not - Fletch recognised he fooked up
The guy posting on the boy racer thread is only doing it to cause an argument - he is probably lying

I think Fletch is merely showing what can happen to someone with a great deal of experience behind the wheel of an S2000 if they are unlucky

Migzy was after a pat on the back.......this is the difference

Granted and really this isnt about Fletch, its about that fact that we have 2 reports of silly actions behind the wheel, one is flamed *BEFORE* he started to get silly and the other gets excuses.

The end result could have been just the same for either situation. Are we always saying around here that it isn't speed that kills its careless driving?

I think there is a major difference between someone flouting the law in such a serious manner at almost tripple the speed limit and someone provoking the rear end. One is seriously illegal and quite possibly offensive due to the fact no remorse was shown and the other was a mistake.

Surely its that simple?

There's speed, then there's stupid speeds, Steve.
There is a difference in the individual actions, but the main point is in the attitudes demonstrated.

There are varying levels of dangerous driving. We all try to 'powerslide' out of corners. These are low speed generally speaking and much less likely to cause an accident as travelling at nearly 3 times the speed limit (bearing in mind other drivers will be going at 40 so you would be hitting them at the equivalent of 70mph).

If you want to be strict about dangerous driving, then talking to your passenger could be construed as 'dangerous driving'.
