<edit> Mugens are:
front: 17x7.5, 52 mm offset; rear: 17x8.5, 59 mm offset; </edit> I get confused with all this offset malarky.. Need someone to explain it to me.. anyone? |
offset = basically how far the wheels sticks out. less is more, more is less ;)
|
|
OK so what is the S2K offset then as the two sets shown above are very different?
|
There is no 'S2000 offset' unless you are referring to stock wheels. Offset is how far from the center line of the wheel it mounts on the hub. You then have to take into account the width of the wheel, and because the wheel well isn't square, the diameter of the wheel.
If you can't get fitment details from someone with the exact same wheels you need to find someone with wheels of a similar size. Ie, if you find someone with similar specs but higher offset and they say it rubs a little, you know that with a lower offset it will rub a lot. |
Obviously rubbing is bad but I presume different offsets also affect the handling in different ways? So a wheel may physically fit under the arch but still create interesting handling issues?
|
Possibly, but I don't think the effects are that noticable. But I would never run 25mm spacers on the front wheels like some do so they can run huge brake calipers. That would tramline like crazy.

:iagree:
Aus2000 is talking alot of sense I'm on my third set of after market alloys' both previous sets rubbed. I could also feel the difference in the handling as well. My current set of Volks fit perfectly and do improve the handling |
