Oh crap, left rear tyre worn down
If the above suggestions don't work, the vibration may be related to the half shafts.
The ends of the shafts can become worn over time (CV joints) and this may be the cause of vibration.
Try the obvious things first, but don't rule this out.

Sound familiar ?

Worn rear tyre: 3.5mm, Good rear: 6mm
Both fronts: 4mm inside edge, 5mm outside
Cheers for the link LTB. I won't rule out it being somthing drive train related. My symptoms arn't the same as what's there though, it's not specifically under acceleration that it'll vibrate. I have had the clicking hub nuts/re-torqing issue though.

The judder will kill the tyre.
Obvious things are a buckled alloy, or the alloy not bolted up to the hub correctly.
I wouldn't say that was a normal wear pattern.
You may now have reseated the alloy onto the hub correctly which is why the problem goes away.
