Can a standard torque wrench be used for the filter wrench?

No the filter wrench is to remove the oil filter and is th eone in the right hand corner of the picture. It's to grip the oil filter as they can be as sod to get off. Much better than stabbing it with as screw driver as I do on my Landy.

only thing about doing an oil service yourself is that you dont get a stamp in your service book to show itsbeen done, people do like to see a honda stamp when things have been changed. if its on trust that you did change th eoil you have no real proof except a recipt for a oil filter and oil.

Ive done some stuff on mine but I let the dealer do the serive items as its the stamp i am after as its full dealer history when its time to sell on.

I don't think that it's worth the hassle DIYing it - you need a day when it's not going to rain, you need to jack the car up, have something to catch the old oil, be able to dispose of the old oil (no emptying it down sinks or drains), etc.

Too much hassle unless you like getting your hands dirty. Probably better to source the spare parts yourself & supply these to a dealership (especially if you don't know the difference between a filter wrench & a torque wrench).

Be wary and check that the filter isn't faulty.

I think either s2000silvervtec or RRalston could recount the story of problematic filter consequences.

Or I could !!

Filter problem / Dealer problem !!

The S2000 filter is one of the easiest to change IMO, you can get to it very easily from the top !!

How many people have the 4500 mile interval done at all never mind at a garge !?!?

I know I don't !!

Changing the oil needn't be an arduous task http://www.fumotovalve.com/ I installed one of these a couple of years ago.It is accessible without lifting the car.I beleive that regular oil changes are the key to the longevity of an engines life and like to do mine every 3 thousand miles This little gizmo is an excellent aid to extremely speedy oil changes.I was sceptical before I installed it i.e leaks etc but it hasn't leaked 1 drop in 2 yrs! There are plenty of posts about it on the USA boards.
