Default Other Tyres - again..

Does anyone know if fitting tyres other than the recommended SO2s, affect a: Insurance and b: Hondacare Warrenty?

I guess I should've checked these things before putting the Toyos on but something the Tyre shop guy said raised some doubts.

Do Honda just 'recommend' or do they 'insist'?

Cheers

Andy

I don't think Honda even "recommend" any more. The cynic in me thinks it was all to do with a deal they with Bridgstone which has probably now expired!

Insurance-wise, it would be very difficult in my view to void a claim based on not running OEM tyres.

Especially considering those Toyos should be better for our more 'clement' weather.

Cheers LL.

Hi guys,

Sorry, I'm a newbie and I haven't checked the forums fully yet, but what is the general consensus among fellow owners about tyres? As I've posted elsewhere on the forum, for matters of expediency (ie I didn't want the cops to arrest me!) I have somehow ended up with an awful pair of cheapy Kumhos on the rear of my S2K, with RE050s on the front. I need to replace them, but should I be looking at some RE050 MZs, or are Goodyear Eagle F1s/Toyo Proxes a better bet? I have a 2004 facelift model on 17s, BTW.

Cheers for any help,

Matt

Cheers mate, I was thinking of just getting the MZs again on the back (when funds permit!) but of course they're still quite hard tyres. My mate (and work colleague) is a massive Honda aficionado, and he recommended the Toyos. Might have a peep when the time comes!

I am currently looking at getting at purchasing a 2001 Y reg, which has pretty new Dunlop Sp Sport 2000 tyres on the front and 9000 tyres on the rear.

Just having it inspected by RAC and they mentioned that it did not have the stock Bridgestone tyres on it. Should I get the existing tyres replaced with bridgestones or are the Dunlop tyres ok to keep on - like I say, they are only a few months old.

Cheers,
