Ownership Day 1
Picked up my car yesterday and had to share a few observations of my first day and 100 miles.
The dealer was of course well meaning but dangerously ill informed. Did you know that you need to check the oil 'hardly ever'? Or that you can drive the car 'as normal' from scratch?
Thanks to you guys for providing the 'knowledge'!
The car is everything I expected, even being very gentle with the revs. If its this much fun now, the thought of this car with a properly run in engine is too much! The sheer joy of driving the thing is unbelievable, even as an amateur with a lot of respect for the car.
PS
A special thanks to the driver of the silver S2k who was driving along the A40 yesterday afternoon and finished off the perfect day by waving to me! A wave on my first drive! too much!

I think that was me (I was heading from Oxford towards Cheltenam mid afternoon).
Always great to see another owner and if it was me glad I was able to help put the finnishing touches to your first day of ownership.

)I cannot believe that dealers are still issuing such appauling advice, particularly re. checking oil. I have heard stories (possibly in the US - I cant remember) of Honda baulking at waranty claims for trashed engines when the driver confesses to not having checked oil levels regularly. Just how do they square this particular circle when their dealers are issuing such crap advice

There was an article in Top Gear magazine (May edition, I think) on this very same point - dealer hadn't told the guy to check his oil regularly, he didn't, engine seized, Honda wouldn't repair/replace it under warranty until TG intervened.

It is astounding isn't it?
