Default P0172 cel code

Got a p0172 fuel system rich, does it effect the running of the car (fueling) after that code has been engaged if so what? or is it simply a record it's ran rich at somepoint?

I'm thinking it either remove fuel to try and meet Target afr/fuel trim and thus possibly retards performance or simply just records a cel and doesn't act upon it.

Cheers

Have you had the car dyno'd yet AJ?

It's basically that the mabda sensor has picked up a consistent richer than desired fuel ratio.

Long term running rich can lead to bad bore wash. Not good.

Yes mark for sure it was ages Ago I had it dyno'd it was fine.

I know how it's picked up just what specifically it does after this point?

I well aware of what both too lean and too rich can do, it's not consistent rich and I have an idea I think I've narrowed it down to partial throttle.

It doesnt do anything... most likely a closed loop overfuel.

Sure It will be in closed loop, but in closed loop it will try and aim for a target afr obviously adding or removing fuel for stoich. It's at a particular point the cel would occur and it doesn't happen all the time. I think it's either the fpr or synapse missing link. It appears to be functioning correctly according to the wideband.

It won't negatively affect performance or put in a limp mode or such.

That's reminds me I need to rent out the film lambda

Thanks mark.

The ECU can only do so much, with the fiddles you have on the car (FPR and that other thing) it will affect the closed loop fuelling too.

The ECU is syaing "I can't do anymore!"

This is why a standalone ECU should be your aim one day soon.

But if your closed loop AFR logs look ok then it might be ok....

Sure I totally agree with everything you say. I've been Jammy getting to safe afrs to be honest.
