I had ordered a Tower Brace an X-Brace from Muz some time back and Muz sent these items out sometime last week.

Yesterday (Thursday) I get two letters from ParcelForce Worldwide saying that I owe VAT and a [B]

The only option available on his web site for both of these items is "international courier".

As I said before I don't object to paying the import tax on stuff that I import.

Funny you should mention Parcelforce, I finally took delivery (after 3 attempts) of my Weathershield cover this week sent from the US and ripped off to the tune of

I have just spoken to someone in Parcelforce customer services - the clearance fee is to cover thier costs if a charge is put on the item by customs.

Thier costs amount to the sending out of the letter to tell you that you owe VAT on the item

I am seriously tempted to tell them where to stick it.

And presumably then having to account for the VAT, and pay it over to HMC&E, which requires time to be spent by its staff administering it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending ParcelForce! Just playing devil's advocate.
