Default Performance Brake Pads

Doing routine checks on my car today to make sure it is fit for Donington on Saturday, i whipped of a front wheel to check my brake pads. You can't check pad thickness easily on the fronts with the 17" wheels.

I put porterfield R4S pads on all round 7k miles ago and have done one trackday on them. Rears are fine, but the fronts are down to 1mm

so, i need new pads before saturday. I won't be able to get porterfields from the states in time, so does anyone have any recommendations for front pads that won't fade on the track that i can get in a couple of days. I've got a set of honda OEM pads that i can whack in if needs but, but they'll just fade on the track so i want something better.

I suppose ebc red stuff will be available, but are they any good? Any other suggestions of pads and suppliers would be appreciated.

I've just gone off Redstuff myself... just got one day at Oulton out of the last set, and the rears (rather than fronts ) are trashed. They're not kind to discs with heavy use, either.

I've just put some Ferodo DS2500 on for Donington, for a change. Had very good experience of them on the ITR, if a little dusty.

Got them here... rears, too...

Nice and speedy delivery

Red Stuff Ceramic are pretty good I ran two sets of fronts with no problems.
Most motor factors should be able to get them next day.

Actually, OEM fronts with R4S rears works really well for me, although I'm going to be OEM all around for Donington.

Because the fronts fade, then the rears take a kicking, and because they're smaller, disintegrate quicker. But I had more longevity out of R4S rears and OEM fronts. The R4S don't really last on the fronts.

Yep... Redstuff Ceramic. Used 'em for last season and most of this, too, apart from a brief excursion with a set of Porterfields as part of the group buy.

I got on pretty well with them, apart from the fact that they marked the discs pretty quickly. The front discs (Brakes Int) only lasted 12 months, scored and cracked. I get a couple of track days out of a set before the rears are well down - fronts only half worn-ish, which is different to what I expected. I never really felt any fade though.

I thought they were a cost-effective option, until I had to change the discs and added that into the equation. The new discs (EBC blanks this time) look like they are headed the same way too after one track-day, and I doubt that the rear pads would see out Donington.

I know DS2500s of old, although on a different car, so I'm going to see how they do on the S2000. These things are always going to be a compromise, balancing price, availability, pad wear, disc wear, dust, cold and hot performance etc etc.

Redstuff ticks a lot of those boxes, but I think it's the disc wear aspect that took me by surprise a bit - never suffered from it before with other cars / set-ups.

All the familiar issues with EBC that I read about on Scoobynet. I went down the Ds2500 road and they are far superior. Quieter and definately kinder to the rotors. Pagid Black is another option...

I've got EBC Red Stuff .. did 3 laps of Nur one after the other (went through the barrier on the main straight) and I was still impressed.
