So I have a set of OEM 17s on my car, im not sure what model they are but they came of a 2003 car.

Im thinking about getting them painted in gloss black to match my car, getting rid of the diamond cut surfaces.

Has anyone done or seen this?

There's something not 'right' about gloss wheels IMHO - satin was my call.

JonUKS2000's picture of mine from the Towcester run:

They are a bit shiney when clean, but that doesn't last long. I was going to go for matt black, but the refurbers talked me out of it. But I think it would have been okay.

I think it looks much better with the caps and nuts kept silver. All black looks a bit too black.

Why did they talk you out of it?

Those look awesome Dembo, I'll be getting mine done like that soon I hope. Each to their own, but gloss black just doesn't look right to my eye.

He said matt black looks like nothing, like it's just dirty, and that they recently had a customer who insisted on matt black who then came back and had them redone gloss black a few weeks later.

A few layers of brake dust and dirt and you'd never tell they're gloss anyway.

As is often the case, a lot depends on the body colour of the car

I had gloss balck wheels on a yellow and thought they looked good

I'm not sure v shiny black on a silver is such a good combo

I'm also not keen on black wheels on black cars

I like those bronze Volks on black cars
