Default POS Alarm

Does anyone know how intertwined the UK dealer alarm is to the car? In striping the interior of the car, I found the alarm brain box installed on the floor on the driver's side. Needless to say that was totally under water and obviously the first thing to go based on how the car was behaving in the flood.

Can it be bypassed altogether? I assume it controls the opening of the doors and trunk by the fob buttons. Is it just another alarm that the average alarm guy can undo?

10Q in advance.

If it's a stock Honda CAT1 (Hamilton Palmer model) similar to the one that was in my Teg, I don't know if you can bypass that easily at all. I tried when I was having trouble after a battery drain incident scrambled the Alarm ECU, and with my limited electronic engineering knowledge made a complete balls up of it.

Any alarm chap should be able to take it out - it's not that difficult - even if a little fiddely.

I've just had to bypass the imobilisation circuits on mine too this week as it decided it wanted to stay armed permanently! Most of the wiring joins into the original loom underneath the drivers side door and behind the steering wheel area. This is of course assuming they were all the same.

Hope it helps somewhat, anything more specific I'll try and help.

Thanks RobH.

This sheds a little bit of hope on a grim situation. I just talked to an alarm guy down here. Not sure how much of an expert he is, but he does have his own ICE / Alarm installation shop/service. He seems to think the Honda alarms are so interwoven with the harness and ECU and something else he refers to as a multiplexer that removing it is next to impossible.

My car seems to match the description of yours in terms of wiring and location. How did you do this - by following a manual? I have the electrical Troubleshooting manual, though I think form the US market.

Given that I am fairly certain the alarm brain box is cooked, does anyone know the procedure for getting one replaced? Since it is a security item I am sure the process would be involved. I will at least have to find the original dealer in the UK my car came from and make contact with them?

Any and all help appreciated. I am getting an ECU courtesy Lucky77, but it looks like without the alarm box - I won't have a snowball's chance in hell in getting the car started.

Bill when my alarm was removed it took the fitter about an hour to do, and they didnt go anywhere near my ECU. To be honest didnt actually look that tricky if you had a little electrical knowledge. Dont think its actually that dependant on the ECU as you have been told.

Thanks Jay. Will continue to investigate from all angles. I would just like to remove the whole darned thing once and for all. People don't steal S's down here (yet - market is non existent) and no one pays any attention to a tripped alarm anymore.

Is it possible yours was an easy job since the after market ECU may not have any immobilizer stuff?
