Powder Coating Wishbones
Will you be powder coating the hubs?if you do you will need to remove the ABS sensor and the wheel bearings. As Earth worm Jim says if you intend to do the job properly you will have to go the whole hog and do the hubs aswell,if I can work out how to send pics with my new phone ill post a couple up( like I haven't posted loads already). My problem is I'm pretty anul so I like stuff to look better than new, but its quite time consuming and expensive.
Chippo, I could tell you the knack in getting the ABS sensors out but then I'd have to kill you
Seriously tho once the stub shaft is out I put loads of plus gas on them then got a socket the same outside diameter as the sensor then tapped it out from the opposite side. It takes a brisk tap but it shocks it into coming out.i even had a problem getting 2 out that we're only fitted a short while before, and I fitted them with copaslip.

Pics of mine.[attachment=34855:uploadfromtaptalk1361935982848.jp g][attachment=34856:uploadfromtaptalk1361936037756.jp g]
I also had the subframes seam welded and fitted subframe collars aswell.
I went for the Gay Blue colour because I thought nobody else would choose a dodgy blue
how wrong I was
As Chippo will confirm its a lot of work, not so bad for me because my car is in 1000 pieces anyway.

If I'm being honest I wasn't going to do the hubs, but seeing as it will all be off, it does seem silly not to!
Although my anticipation is to track the car once it's complete, I will be doing a maximum of 3-4 a year so not sure if it warrants getting the subframe seem welded, plus I won't be running anywhere near as much power and torque that your expecting!
I wouldn't trust powder coating TBH. Yeah it's great if you want a show car, but if you plan on driving it daily, POR15 is the winner here.
Why? It flexes. So when something hits it there is a bit of give. My mate had his cage powder coated and it chipped sooo easily.
If I was going to redo the Westy chassis, and when I build my new one, this is what i'll be doing!

I suspect that POR15 is a cheaper alternative as well?
As I said before the car doesn't tend to get much use. It's due an mot in march and looking back over the previous certificate I've done a whopping 2,500 miles over the past year.

If the powder was chipping off, it was not prepped and applied properly. I powder coat just about everything and the only chip I have done was enough to take metal with it.
