Default Power stutter at @ 7k revs

My car has recently developed what can only be described as a stutter at between 7 - 7250 revs. It will continue on to higher revs, happens in all gears ive tried.
I havent noticed it anywhere else in the rev range, nor any misfiring.
Im obviously thinking about replacing plugs, but before i do i wanted to check with you guys as to whether i might be barking up the right tree?

Check your oil and top up to the top X, it's possibly oil pressure related and to do with VTEC not kicking in properly.

No i checked the oil, it would be 3/4 of the gauge, not at the top.
Does it really have to be at the top constantly? Surely thatd mean you overfill it constantly?

Have you cleaned your engine lately by any chance ?

You could have water around the spark plugs ?

It's the MAP sensor.

If probably feels as if the car is almost surging in and out of VTEC.

Do the MAP whack and if the problem goes away you'll need a new MAP sensor sometime soon.

Could be gaps in the spark plugs though

Have a look at them

MAP sensor - could make sense except its always at the same rev range.... if the sensor was out i would have thought it would affect all of the range with variety, or have i got the wrong idea there?
Ive not cleaned the engine recently, however there has been alot of standing water around, so ill check the plugs for that thanks.

Is yours a DBW car? Any intake/exhaust mods?

might have a lean spot at those revs that makes whatever else is going on always appear to happen at that point.

No my car is absolutely standard.
I just double-checked the oil (at top of mark)
The MAP whack has been done, but i cant drive it right now to test it.
Interestingly in doing the MAP whack i realised that the sensor doesnt have any markings on it, like it was an after market variant, it also had the cable-tie already holding it in place.
This makes me think that this situation has already been looked at.....by the previous owner. Uh oh.....
