Each end is full of grease which almost becomes a liquid when hot so if a boot is split then it will throw it out, or it could be leaking oil down the flange splines on either the Diff or gearbox depending on which end is leaking

Well driveshafts dont go to the gearbox so that's not what Daytona is talking about.

Learn something every day.. I never knew there was grease in the prop!

Can you not replace the boot rather than the whole shaft? (Assuming it's not too damaged).

Doesn't look like there's a boot as such https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/722...and-propshaft/

Every once in a while I come across an S2000 that has a loose prop, and a subsequent loose prop cap/end bolt.

Basically, on the prop ends (gearbox I think) there is an Allen headed bolt used to secure it, and if your prop shaft is in any way loose as a result of the 6 main bolts at either end) then inevitably the end Allen bolt will go that way too, which makes the joint open up, and voila, you'll have grease being flung around when the shaft is spinning.

Entirely possible yours could be something else of course, but it's a free job (save for the time) to remove the shaft and check it, before spending big on a new one.

You'll need to replace any grease lost if, and as others have said make sure you really whack your allen socket in, the 12 prob bolts can be a fecker! (They are different lengths at either end if you didn't know, and use the existing marks to ensure the shims are back in the same place!)
