Default pulled over for speeding in the S

I got pulled over for speeding on the way back from the gym the other day doing just under 90 in a 70 (dual carrigeway inbetween great missenden and amersham). The car was an unmarked vectra and the copper plain clothes, he put the flashers on and pulled me over said he had better things to do with his evening than issue speeding tickets which was nice really. I even had my dodgy spaced number plate on the car and plus with my age (23) I would of thought the odds were against me but hey! I have a completely clean license but what I am wondering is how much would the 3 points affect my license if I had of been issued them? Is it the case of your premium rising

Jammy *******.

I've just got done (first time after 20 yrs clean license - which i was very proud of!) for doing 37 in a 30 zone - nice wide road with no other traffic and in clear sight of the 50mph sign just a hundred yards or so ahead. Mobile scamera - no leniency there then!

I had heard that if they are in an unmarked car and not in uniform they cannot do you - could be BS though.
He probably saw a young lady in a sports car and thought he'd have some fun. and scare you a bit.

Most insurance companies will let you have 3 points without it affecting your premium.

I played around with someone of the online quote engines when I last renewed in June and they gave me the same quotes when declaring one SP30 as when declaring a clean licence, so I guess that must be correct.

Can they actually do you for speeding by using their cars speedo as a measuring device? I thought it all had to be recorded properly? This could of been why he let me off, lack of evidence on his behalf?!
A friend of mine knows a copper who patrols his local town and he seemed to think all cars are fitted as standard with a laser/speed measuring device whcih I can believe as the technology probably costs peanuts these days!

First of all was it just 1 copper? If so then IIRC they can't do you for speeding anyway as they need a witness...

But in terms of points affecting your license I have 6 points and am 24, the cheapest quote I could find under my own insurance with 4 years NCB was

I've been told that by a copper.

Also a couple of years ago I was driving to work on the M25 . I come off the motorway into the outside slip lane and cut across into the left lane to turn left onto the a10. Well the chap in that lane (miles behind) in the VW TddiGTItidii took offence that I should dare to overtake him and starts hanging on my bumper. I put my foot down and dropped him a few times but he keeps coming back. We are now driving through built up areas (I'm not driving fast) but he's swerving all over the road behind me, but I know how to make my car wide and am certianly not letting this knob past. Anyway at the next lights he pulls alongside me

'Get out of the car' he says flashing some badge 'I'm a policeman and I'm looking at some wanker who has lost his licence, get out of the car'

'Follow me to my place of work' says me 'and we can discuss this on the record infront of work securuty' at which point he did a U-turn and sped off.

as stated 3 points should make no difference. Most ins companies use the assumption that 1 offence [edit]of three points [edit] is statistically insignifant. 2 or more on the other hand leads to some correlation with the speed you drive and hence the higher expected claim amount if you crash.

and a copper can do you if they are on their own so long as they have a calibrated speed device.
