Default Pulling to right under acceleration

Hi all.

Have only had my S a few days and took it for a good run for a weekend away. I've noticed that when I accelerate at higher speeds (ie, motorway cruising) the car pulls slightly to the right and then when I stop accelerating it pulls left. This is obviously concerning and most obvious when accelerating in VTEC and then lifting off the accelerator.

I've done lots of searches and found that most people that have had this issue have put it down to tyre pressures being uneven on the back. I found that there was 3 psi between the two rears difference, which has now been rectifed. However, the car is still slighlty pulling (as described above).

As I say, I've only just picked up the car and intend to change all of the tyres in the next week. At the moment it has different branded rear tyres. I'm almost certain this is the cause of my problems and will be replacing the rear left Continental (not directional) and rear right Bridgestone (directional) with a pair of Toyo T1-r's. The car is in excellent condition and is not Cat C or D. I thought it was odd that the tyres do not match and would usually not buy a car like this but it was obvious the recent keeper did not drive the car very hard and was a bit naive when it came to tyres.

Is there anything else that could be at fault? I was thinking that if it still does it after the tyres are changed it will most likely be alignment, LSD or engine mounts. Has anyone had any experience of these faults?

Current best tyre deal i can find is Camskill Toyo Proxes t1r's at

Change the tyres and you will probably find that's the cause of your problem. You should never have different tyres on the same axle with a sensitive beast like this

Fair;y sure it will be the tyres.

Lots of variables like wall stiffness / flex and contact area will come into play w en power is transmitted through them.

Could be tyres, geometry, tyre wear or a combination of all of the above. I have a penchant for flicking the back end out turning right on mini roundabouts. However, it wears my nearside rear more than the offside and it gradually starts to pull one way (aombined with some slightly dodgy geo). Tyres changed and geo done, no problem apparent anymore.

Must be it then. We even have the same branded tyres!

Thanks, will report back soon.

Never mix tyres.

When was the car last aligned?

You will find this problem with mixed tyres or if you are running the same on both corners, one tyre being under inflated.

Change ASAP = Enjoy!

Changing the rears to toyos during the week. Would it matter if I have matching fronts and matching rears but of a different brand front to rear? I know it's not ideal but the fronts, although cheapies are basically brand new.

Cheers
