Default Putting the S to bed.

Hi guys, just a quick one. I've managed to break my right shoulder this weekend (don't ask how) and have been told that i won't be able to drive for 4-6 weeks Is there anything i need to do (or have someone else do) to the car, so that when i can finally get in and drive again, she starts first time?

Cheers!

4-6 weeks is quite a short time to leave a car, you shouldn't need to worry about anything.

When you take it out again give it a good blast to charge the batery and blow out the cobwebs, but that's about it.

To be on the safe side you might want to put a trickle charge on the battery and maybe drive it in and out of the garage once a week so you rotate the tyres a bit . . but that's more for peace of mind than any real benefit.

I would not worry about leaving the car for that long, I have left mine for a lot longer with no issues

ouch shoulders can be a nasty thing to break - hence my chosen tag 9 bolts.

I would make a habbit of running the car just to keep the battery in a good state. At this time of year or towards the end of your convalesance the cold mornings kill batteries, if they are a bit marginal the cold will finish them off.

If standing in a garage I leave it with the handbrake off.

How did you do it? - enquiring and somewhat bored minds need to know

cheers guys, we've not got a garage here, but i'll leave the handbrake off and put it in gear (but not whilst i'm turning the engine over!)

...I did it by falling off a fortress, whilst doing a Roman Army re-enactment over in Belgium.

*awaits the inevitible barrage of laughs and "skirt wearer" jibes!*

We were in a place called Namur. I'm sure if you googled the event, you'd probably find something. (though i fell after the 1st day had finished, so thankfully there were no members of the public around... just all of my mates.
