For some unknown reason in the last 2 weeks I've had about 3 or 4 cars really have a go at racing me on various A-roads. Now I'm never one not to have a good old blast except I'm a touch confused about the cars choosing to try and race me

So far:
Ford SportKa
Vauxhall Vectra (1.8L)
Vauxhall Nova

What are they thinking!!!!!!!
I didn't even have to drop out of top to out drag them I don't think.
Weekend before last I go past a 350Z but does he want to play? does he bugger!!

Think I'm bringing out the Chavs and scaring the real competition

Were they really having a go at racing, or just nudging a bit to enjoy the sight of a real sports car hoofing it?
Or perhaps they thought it was a Eunos

Sorry Fluffy I thought from the title this was about to be a post along the lines of.....

"People keep coming up and talking to me and saying......"

I was therefore going to post that you should just walk away and avoid the aggresive confrontation as they are probably only going to insult you.

I had a Sport Ka chase me out of Nottingham on a dark country road I don't know at night and he did a bloody good job of keeping up with me, by catching me on the corners, then I would pull on the straights.

Reminded me of when I had my AX GT and knew a road home inside out, with the speed and gear of every corner - how sad He must have been doing the same! Good on him though, he was being safe and not trying anything silly.

I've been getting a bit more slow car action also

A couple of weeks ago had a Focus 1.6 or 1.8 following me thro some twisties. Fair play he obviously knew the roads (he had purposely taken a longer route to get to his destination like me) and like moffs story was driving safe.

The best one was a tranny van. I was in RH lane at traffic lights, he was in LH lane-no other cars behind. Lights change, I set off briskly but nothing special. WTF-this gus is gunning it-he's slightly in front. I can see he is looking at me through his side mirror. After 200yds or so he brakes & drops righ behind me. I then see his indicator go on & he turns right-why didn't he just pull behind me from the lights

Had this last night with a Fiesta or something, but worst thing is, with the weather at the moment, and this car chasing me onto a very curvy and inclined ramp onto a dual cariageway, you just have to back off and take it easy, or risk ending up in the armco

Me too!

Just as I was pulling out of the company car park the other night, another car exited from the car park next door. It was 'Mr. Barry', with his fully 'loaded' Vauxhall Nova (all 'bling, bling' wikid init!).

So we exit the industrial estate & pull onto the main dual carriage way, stopping at the red lights.

He's nudging the white line, and is looking over at me, glancing back at the lights waiting to change, reving the huge 'zorst which has the diameter of a baked bean can. I'm on the inside lane, he's on the outside.

The lights change, and we're off!

Barry is left miles behind as I work up through the gears. He's been left for dead.

Typical of Barry, he stays in the outside lane on an empty road, and forces a Lexus to drive up behind him & eventually undertake him. He's been totally anihilated, and now other traffic is taking him as well.

Oh. One thing I forgot to mention - I WAS IN MY BMW 3SERIES 2.0 DIESEL ESTATE!

in the Testarossa there is always someone wanting to 'race' but I think most of it is that people want to see the car driven hard so they can see what it can do

Nova's? well that's just plain silly and I usually ignore....if it's something more tasty like a Scoob/Mitsi/Porker then it would be rude not to...........if it's something that I know is a bit 'dark' like Supra's or RX-7's I generally leave well alone as chances are they're modded and I will look a tit

Traffic light gp's are to be avoided due to the difficulty in launching the car off the line and the hit and miss 1st to 2nd gear change but you can just hit 60mph in 1st so it's always a judgement call
