Query on re starting engine when cold
I think doing that just confuses the ECU. When I had a Primera, very short runs from cold were fatal. A few times I'd move the car from the drive onto the road, and leave it, after which it wouldn't start for love nor money. Apparently the ECU puts too much fuel in after the cold start.
There is a rpm vs fuel and rpm vs coolant calibration tables present in the ECU.
Its are more like a manual choke used to be back in the day for atomisation, nowadays more for emissions.
Upon cold startup, the AFR is rich coupled with a high idle and with that the engagement of the pump to heat up the CAT to bring it upto temperature faster and thus reduce emissions.
Upto a cetain temperature at cold startup the o2 sensor is ignored.
