EVO tested it at 5.5s IIRC

-sigh- what you really want off Honda would be tweaked gearing, improved low lobes (giving a nice boost from 4000-6000rpm), plus significant weight saving. Just imagine what a 1000kg S2000 with those other little tweaks would feel like.

If I had a lot of money (I don't - I'm skint!), then you could really go to town. For example, replace the gearbox with a nice 6 speed sequential - 20kg's lighter than the stock box, better ratios, faster gearchange. Though the box is a few grand, plus you'd need to have a bellhousing made up.

Brian, if my numbers come up on the lottery I'll gladly fund your upgrade fun on my car Don't worry, no FI, although those Jenvey ITBs sound like a bit of fun

Not a cost effective mod though- I am getting cams too so that will mean some proper NA gains

Which plots?

Theres some twat on scoobynet claiming an air filter and a unichip releases good gains on the S2000 beacause "they can get round the emmisions"

[QUOTE=MarkB,Apr 14 2005, 08:55 AM]Bhp is the engine's capacity for doing work (work in this case is what makes the car go fast), so the higher the bhp the more potential the engine has.
Torque is the ability of the engine to turn the driveshaft at a given revs.

explanation.

1.What would be the required torque for the S engine to make it accelerate in any gear at 3k revs to get the same change in speed as the car does at 8300? Just a rough estimate if you are able to shed light.
2.Would I be right in assuming that an engine with similar bhp & lbft is always more desireable?
That's a tricky question there Rahul......

1. Simple answer is - it's not what you've got, but how you use it. The kind of accelleration you're looking for is what you feel at peak torque, which, if you look at a rolling road graph is the highest part of the torque curve, the point at which the torque curve stops rising and starts to go back down. What you're asking for is an engine with a different shaped torque curve, in effect a different engine, the flatter the curve the more of the available torque is accessible across the rev range.

2. No, an engine with big bhp and big torque is more 'powerful' in the sense that it can do more work and it can utilise that capacity for doing work more easily, but the relationship between the numbers themselves is purely mathematical.
