Thumbs up Questions

Hi all

Being new to the S2000 family i was wondering if i could bask in the glory of all your knowledge!

Standard cars have never been my forte. As such, there is a good chance that my new '99 will get some new trick bits in the near future.

My questions are 1. Where is the best place to have the car modded? Mods will initially include strut braces and poly bushes, air filter, exhaust (pref HKS or similar Jap wonderfulness), coilovers (pref TEIN), OZ SLG's and perhaps a brake upgrade (Brembo or AP Racing).
I may look to eventually get a Spoon or Mugen motor in as well, whicg brings me onto my next question 2. What are the engine names for the S2000 (AP20???), wheel specs (for the OZ's), and other such useful tuning numbers that end up being useful when ordering bits?

Obviously a good deal would be the way to go, however I would rather pay extra for quality bits and workmanship.

Thanks in advance for your help

For the anciant sun god, you have an awful lot to learn about the car before you go messing it up with rice bits.

Learn this forum and get the holy book of the car - it will save much wailing & gnashing of teeth.

The wise one above talks the truth. Much about this car is the way you drive or learn to drive it.

The engine is pretty much near its best already therefore Mods are pricey!

never rice - only ever carefully researched top quality parts used.

Thats why forums are such a blessing... If the general concensus is do not mod - then no modding shall be done.

I am however very interested in TEIN coilovers and OZ wheels... perhaps the brakes too!

Please - keep the suggestions coming. I really do value evryone's opinion given my lack of experience...

The short answer's that the car is well riced out of the box.

You'll have to throw big money at it to improve it and many 'improvements' are the antithesis.

Japanese rice springs are suited to their race tracks & not UK back roads. Nitrons are thought more suited.

The tyers were specifically developed for the car & hondas use a heavy wheel offset, to get the centre-point steering geometry & largish brakes within the wheels. So few aftermarket ones fit. Certainly not OZ.

Bigger brakes are only really needed on the track & since they force a reduction in offset. Wilwoods are expensive, will fir & represent a reduction in unsprung mass, which has to be better than rice springs, and is cheaper.
