Default Quick advice needed...

As it says, I just got a new head unit - trying to remove the old one, how do I physically do this?

Also how do I then disconnect it without setting the alarm off?

Would really appreciate if someone could let me know soon because I'm trying to do it all this afternoon, before it gets dark.

p.s. I have a techincal knowledge of 1/10

Thanks, Chris

pull the surround off using a flat head screwdriver (whole thing inc the door) then 4 screws to remove the stereo. 5 minute job!

Getting the fascia off first time can be a bit of a bitch though - half an hour, not five minutes

agree - you are somewhat over cautions first time, can be a bit of an uncomfortable tug.

Did exactly the same.

Alarm is only an issue if you disconnect the battery I think. I didn't bother.

Thanks, just thought because the "anti-theft" light was flashing, alarm would go off if I disconnected the head unit...guess not. Be back in 30 mins or so...

Ok I've got the fascia off with only minor damage to the car(!) - I think disconnecting the battery got round any potential alarm problems.

Next problems:

1. Connector to the back of the OEM unit doesn't fit into the back of the new unit?! - what can I do? There is a cable supplied with the unit which I guess I should use, but would that not involve replacing the existing cable? - doesn't look like an easy job. Or is there an adapter cable I should get? Any help on this would be useful.

2. New unit comes with a DAB aerial - how am I supposed to incorporate that

Thanks, Chris
