... hi chaps
I'm still on the lookout for an S2K, had a look at 2 over the weekend but wondered if you could answer a question for me.
I know this sounds a bit daft but is the carpet on the cars a bit thin/delicate?
The reason I ask is that both the cars I looked at had approx 18-20k miles on them but the carpet had started to wear significantly on both. One even had a tear in it!
My first thought was whether either of them had been clocked but the pedals, steering wheel, seats etc looked about right for the age/mileage and all the service stamps added up!
If i'm not happy with the carpet, can it be replaced properly i.e. using Honda original carpet or should it simply not be worn/torn?
Getting a bit fed up of travelling to see cars which are supposedly in very good condition only to have this sort of thing occuring!

Had mats in mine since day 1, so unable to comment on the quality of the carpets.
Most people put mats in anyway, either the original OEM ones, or the Muz ones.
You can probably replace the carpet from a breakers, as there are plenty that have seen the wrong side of a hedge

The carpet comes in two parts, with the transmission tunnel seperating them. From looking at the manual it looks like a big job to do, but it's one I'd certinaly undertake if I found the near perfect car with a badly worn drivers side carpet.
Your best bet for a replacement would be from a breakers, as I expect Honda would want silly money.

I think that what i'll do is to buy the mats but then spend as much time as necessary sourcing the carpet - as you say - from a breakers.
I wouldn't be able to live with it looking shoddy - even if it's covered by a mat.
Checked the rest of the car over and it's fantastic! No parking dings, full history (just been serviced).
I took the precaution checked with the dealers who had done the servicing and compared the mileage to be as sure as possible that it hadn't been clocked and everything seems in order - it was just that the carpet looked knackered!!
Still, nothing that can't be sorted!
